Luke 1:39-55

True joy doesn't depend on perfect circumstances or external validation. Mary's encounter with Elizabeth reveals that joy is rooted in God's presence, awakened through Spirit-filled community, and overflows from remembering God's faithfulness. When Mary simply greeted Elizabeth, the unborn John the Baptist leaped for joy at Jesus' presence. Elizabeth's Spirit-filled words affirmed Mary's identity and faith, leading to Mary's beautiful song of praise. Mary's joy came not from understanding everything, but from remembering God's faithfulness throughout history. We can experience this same joy by slowing down to notice God's presence, speaking encouragement to others, and rooting ourselves in God's story of faithfulness.
